Tapers
All thanks first and foremost go to Amanda and Brian for being open to the idea of people taping thier shows and allowing them to be shared freely across the internet. I personally think their live show is the most impressive show of any artist around, and to be able to share it with others as a memory is a very awesome thing. Their live performances are always a work in progress and just because you’ve heard a song once, doesn’t mean you’ve heard it “now”, the most obvious example is the amazing evolution of Half-Jack. They also like to do a lot of covers, and I think the fans really like being able to re-hear or hear for the first time the things they really like. They cover a ton of different artists so chances are they’re going to do something by one of your favorite artists at some point. Hopefully I’ll be able to share those with you when they happen!
And of course, great thanks to the tapers because if they weren’t generous and didn’t share their recordings we’d all be out of luck. While most of you guys downloading these tracks were off in the front of the venue dancing and singing along, the tapers were making a solid effort at standing in the back and guarding their equipment. Why do they do it? I have no idea. (I do it myself, and I really don’t know what my deal is). All I know is that I’m glad and I hope everyone else is glad that they do it. Next time you’re at a show and you see a guy or girl hanging around at the back with a mic stand, buy them a refreshing beverage or something. (just do it before the show starts, please).
