Notes from the taper:
This is a recording from The Dresden Dolls’ performance at Club Laga in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 15, 2004. The lineup of the show was Curses! opening, then ThouShaltNot, followed by The Dresden Dolls, and Bella Morte headlining. About 160 people were in attendance.
The recording has a slight 60Hz buzz and occasional odd compression on the high frequencies because it was taped from the soundboard to an ungrounded VCR. From there it was digitized losslessly on the tape’s first play. The performance and recording alike are pretty good.
Anna Vogelzang performs backing vocals on a rare (at the time) performance of “Delilah.”
Amanda has a lot of banter between songs. She thanks Alex Reed of ThouShaltNot, who booked the show, and bemoans the closing of Club Laga, which was a beautiful venue in the heart of the Oakland area of Pittsburgh.
This was the Dolls’ second show ever in Pittsburgh, following their opening slot on the Edward Ka-Spel tour (a show attended by fewer than twenty), and was instrumental in building their fanbase there.
Enjoy!
